paradise island or island of paradise


i just came back from bali and on the left, you will see the feeble attempt of mine, trying to take a picture of the beautiful sunset. i have not done it justice but i'm sure you can imagine how much nicer it really is.




this one was taken on a much clouder day, at a different location. i just thought that the cloud cover and the sun rays just peaking through would make a nice shot.






this last photo is taken at a nice little resort in ubud town. the foreground is the pool and the background, are padi fields. the resort is situated right beside padi fields and the rooms overlook the vast fields. check out the blue sky and the clouds. i fell asleep while sitting outside my room, reading my book. it was that relaxing.


cheap stuff, friendly people and a slow pace of life. beaches, padi fields, blue skies and beautiful sunsets, what more can you ask for?

yawn...
i had to go back to work this morning at around 4am. I was already woken up at around 1 plus due to some problems but they identified it as a power outage, so there was not much i could do till the power came back. but at 3 plus, the power had interrupted everything and i had no choice but to come back in.

i was there till 6am. yawn... excuse me.
well, what can i say, i love my work and this was part of the job. you take whatever that comes with the job, right?

my vacation starts tomorrow. i can't wait for that to happen, since i feel that i have earned this long break. i guess it will be really good to be able to just sit back and relax a little and take time off work. when was the last time you had a nice long break? maybe its high time to go for that vacation of yours with your love ones?

ice cream lady and what nots

there is this lady who sells ice cream out at the bus stop at the front of my house. it was one of those push cart type, which are quite common down town. i'm pretty surprise to find this type here in the heartlands.
lots of times, when i get home, it was already quite late and i still see her around, waiting for customers. but you do understand that it is quite difficult to get anyone to eat ice cream at 11pm in the night.

well, i got home a little earlier some time ago, and i went by to buy a ice cream wafer. basically, its just a chunk of ice cream between two wafer biscuits. brings back some memories of my school days, many many many moons ago.

thousand of sunrise and sunsets have come and gone since then. i remembered being a pimple-faced youth back in secondary school and jc. playing pranks and teasing each other about girls. hanging out at the mac's over at bukit timah and going to town for movies. life was much simpler back than. exams, homework, girls and looking cool were the driving force in our lives, not in order of priority, i must say.

the main motivation in my life now, has changed drastically. things are more complicated and every action does not necessarily mean an equal an opposite reaction. exams are now in the form of yearly apprasials, homework means work brought back home because it could not be finished. looking cool is totally foreign to me now.

but for that 5 mins, with that ice cream wafer in hand, it felt like things were simple all over again, as before.
